Turpentine Creek welcomed a new family member on Friday, November 21 when Tiger, the bobcat was brought to the refuge. His previous owners found him abandoned at a construction site when he was only about a week old; they brought him home and began to care for him. Tiger was raised as a house pet and seemed to be doing okay until one day about 3 months after they found him, he suddenly attacked and bit their 1 year old daughter on the face. The couple immediately realized the dangers of trying to keep a wild animal as a pet and decided to look for a new home for tiger before anything more serious happened. They spent about a month searching for a safe place for Tiger when a friend told them about Turpentine Creek.
Tiger is 4 months old and seems sweet, but as the previous owners found out, that sweetness can turn into aggression in the blink of an eye. He is especially aggressive around feeding time, attacking his food ferociously.
Tiger will remain in quarantine for a couple of weeks and then will be moved into the enclosure next to Goober, the monkey.
