Kitty was rescued from Independence, Kansas when she had gotten into a fight with a dog, and her owner's ten-year-old son had tried to break it up. Unfortunately, the young boy was no match for a wild cat, and Kitty bit him in the face. The boy came out all right, but Kitty's life was about to change. The Department of Health in Kansas wanted Kitty to be euthanized and tested for rabies immediately. The owner called Turpentine Creek and sent the cougar to the refuge. The staff at TCWR worked things out with the health department who thankfully allowed Kitty to live.
Kitty was most likely inbred judging by her crossed eyes and small stature. Although she is an adult cougar, her legs are about one third of the length they should be. Kitty has digestion problems, and is on a diet of boneless meat as a result.
