Free Concerts Intrigue Theater Eagle Watch Tour Haunted Hayrides Jeep Weekend Mark The Date TCWR Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular Oct. 29   7-9 PM Greetings!   The staff and interns are frustrated, angered, and deeply scared by the recent events in Zanesville, Ohio.  The events unfolded in such a way that it is evident that most of the parties involved had no plan.  For those who did, the chain of command prohibited the plan from being implemented.  The slaughtered animals cannot be brought back but there is a lesson to be learned for all of us.   In recent years the facility lost its Class C Exhibitor License, which is issued yearly by the USDA/APHIS Devision.  This event should have triggered local officials, both state and county, to take action.  If this were handled properly more of the animals would have survived.   To help facilitate the relocation of the animals, Turpentine Creek has offered both adequate space and transportation.  Now we wait for the phone to ring.  Turpentine Creek staff members have rescued big cats and bears from all over the country.  Please donate today.   Sincerely, Scott Smith Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge 2012 Calendars are on sale now. Order early.  These calendars are limited.  We only have 2,000!   Cats of the Week - Corvetta and Zora Corvetta and her cagemate, Zora, were retrieved from Pleasant Hope, MO, on August 20, 2007.  They had been purchased by their previous owner from the Exotic Animal paradise in Springfield, MO, when the facility closed and auctioned all of their exotic animals in October of 2006.  The new owner had planned on cross-breeding the two cats to house cats to produce "Savannah Cats."  After less than a year without producing a valuable litter of kittens, he decided to rid himself of the cats.  He had not given them names and had no idea how old they were.   Watch Our Latest Video Featuring the Cats of the Week   October 29, 7-9 PM Howl-O-Ween Spooktacular For More Info     Save 33% Weekly room rates for only $100! Personally, I can't think of a better way to maximize the impact of your extended vacation dollars.  "Help us, help the animals".   Sincerely, Scott Smith Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge   Cat of the Week - Lucky An animal control officer brought Lucky to Turpentine Creek from Branson, Missouri.  Her previous owner did not have the proper permit for an exotic animal, and Lucky was consequently confiscated.  The animal control officer who brought her to TCWR named her.  He told us that she had been abandoned in a warehouse and was''...lucky to be alive."   Weekly Video Watch this video to see how your group can help.  Don't worry about age.  Some of the best work at the refuge has been done by Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.  What can your group do to help save exotic cats and bears?
