TCWR Cat of the Week Blog
Featuring Bam Bam Grizzly Bear |
Greetings! Turpentine Creek is nearing its twenty year anniversary! We will be having anniversary events in both April and May. We will keep you posted on the events so you can block out the dates. In our twenty years of operating in Eureka Springs, Arkansas we have never seen such a mild winter (so far....shhhhhhh). This good weather has allowed us to start on the next "pod" of habitats. We have two totally funded and are currently working on finding donors for our habitat fund to top off the entire three habitat "pod". It is our full intention to open a habitat or two during our twenty year anniversary celebration. Please, do attend and bring some friends with you.

It is the time of year again to renew your animal adoption and sponsorship for those of you who participated in the program in the past. If you are new to the refuge, choose an animal and determine if you want to adopt or sponsor it for 2012. Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge needs you help. We have thousands of people receiving this email each week. Please make the commitment to donate on a monthly basis. You choose the amount and even the smallest donation makes a big difference when you multiply it by thousands. Click on the button below to donate on a monthly basis through PayPal, which you know is safe and secure. Thanks, Scott Smith TCWR VP

Sheba Cougar
Sheba arrived at Turpentine Creek in the back of a pick-up truck. The couple that currently owned her was moving and wanted to ensure the best care for Sheba so they decided to bring her to the refuge. When she came to the refuge, Sheba was in very good health, but this was not always the case. The current owners had rescued Sheba 2 years previously from the woman's niece. While living with the niece, Sheba was terribly mistreated. She was harassed, had pellet guns shot at her and was starving to death. Every bone in her body was visible; and she was incredibly malnourished and quite aggressive. The husband said he didn't want a cougar as a pet, but he couldn't just let her suffer and die. He took good care of her until her arrival at the Refuge.
