TCWR Cat of the Week Blog
Featuring Bam Bam Grizzly Bear |
Greetings!
Thank you for taking the time to take a look at our weekly e-newsletter. Turpentine Creek does everything we can to share our animal family with you through electronic media. It would greatly benefit the refuge if you would share the videos and e-newsletter with all your friends. So, go ahead and pass it on. It is the time of year again to renew your animal adoption and sponsorship for those of you who participated in the program in the past. If you are new to the refuge, choose an animal and determine if you want to adopt or sponsor it for 2012. Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge needs you help. We have thousands of people receiving this email each week. Please make the commitment to donate on a monthly basis. You choose the amount and even the smallest donation makes a big difference when you multiply it by thousands. Click on the button below to donate on a monthly basis through PayPal, which you know is safe and secure. Thanks, Scott Smith TCWR VP

Bam Bam Grizzly Bear
Turpentine Creek was contacted by a man from Oklahoma who had 9 tigers and 2 bears in need of homes. He was facing foreclosure and was ordered to be off the property by November 1st; his vehicles had already been repossessed and he had no money left to care for his animals. On November 11th, TCWR staff members headed south to Ardmore, OK, and arrived at the man's property at around 6pm. There were the two bears; Bam Bam, a 2-year-old grizzly bear, and Thunder, a 1-year-old black bear. Both seemed healthy and were full of energy. They were housed inside of a large barn where there were eight 10'x20' identical cages; all were well-constructed and clean. The tigers had already been rescued, so the first 6 cages were empty and were being torn down and removed from the barn. It did feel like we got there to rescue the bears just in time.
